Every child has the right to grow up in a safe, nurturing, and protective environment free from violence, abuse, exploitation, neglect, and discrimination. Good Neighbors Bharat works with children, families, schools, communities, and government institutions to strengthen child protection systems while promoting children's rights and meaningful participation. We believe children are not only beneficiaries but also active agents of change. Through child-friendly schools, child clubs, child parliaments, and community-based platforms, we empower children to express their views, participate in decisions affecting their lives, and contribute to building safer and more inclusive communities.

Objective

To protect children from all forms of violence, abuse, exploitation, neglect, and harmful practices while strengthening child protection systems, promoting child rights, and ensuring meaningful participation of children in decisions that affect their lives.

Key Focus Areas

Child Rights and Protection: Promote children's rights and strengthen systems to prevent and respond to violence, abuse, exploitation, neglect, child labour, child marriage, trafficking, and discrimination.
Child Participation: Establish and strengthen Child Parliaments, child clubs, and other child-led platforms that enable children to participate in school and community decision-making.
Safe Schools and Communities: Create child-friendly, inclusive, and protective environments by strengthening schools, School Management Committees (SMCs), parents, community groups, and local governance institutions.
Digital Safety: Build awareness among children, parents, teachers, and communities on responsible digital use, cyber safety, and protection from online risks.
Systems Strengthening: Strengthen collaboration with government departments, child protection committees, frontline workers, and local stakeholders to improve reporting, referral, case management, and safeguarding mechanisms.

Key Activities

Establish and strengthen Child Parliaments, child clubs, and peer support groups.
Conduct awareness sessions on child rights, child protection laws, positive parenting, and safeguarding.
Train teachers, SMCs, frontline workers, and community leaders on child protection, safeguarding, and child-friendly practices.
Promote life skills education, psychosocial well-being, and leadership development among children.
Create child-friendly reporting and referral mechanisms and strengthen linkages with government child protection services.
Conduct campaigns to prevent child labour, child marriage, trafficking, gender-based violence, bullying, corporal punishment, and discrimination.
Promote digital literacy and online safety for children, parents, and educators.
Strengthen coordination among schools, communities, Panchayati Raj Institutions, and government agencies to ensure timely protection and support for vulnerable children.

Primary Beneficiaries

The programme benefits children—especially girls, adolescents, children with disabilities, Dalit and tribal children, and those at risk of violence, exploitation, or exclusion—as well as parents and caregivers, teachers, School Management Committees, child protection committees, community leaders, frontline workers, schools, and government institutions. By strengthening both child protection systems and children's participation, Good Neighbors Bharat contributes to safer communities where every child can survive, develop, participate, and realize their rights.
