Project Overview

The Good Village Project is a community-led integrated development initiative designed to improve the quality of life of vulnerable children, families, and communities through holistic interventions in child protection, health, nutrition, WASH, livelihoods, environmental sustainability, and community empowerment. Implemented as a CSR pilot project, the initiative works closely with communities, local institutions, and government stakeholders to strengthen community resilience, improve access to essential services, and promote sustainable development. By addressing interconnected social, economic, and environmental challenges, the project empowers communities to become healthier, safer, self-reliant, and environmentally responsible.


Project Objectives


  • Improve child protection, health, nutrition, WASH, and the overall well-being of children and families.
  • Strengthen sustainable livelihood opportunities and economic resilience for vulnerable households.
  • Promote environmental conservation, climate resilience, and disaster preparedness.
  • Enhance community participation, local governance, and access to government services.
  • Develop a sustainable and scalable Good Village Model that promotes inclusive and community-led development. 

Key Components

  • Child Protection and Community Well-being: Strengthen child protection systems, promote child rights, positive parenting, and community awareness on child safety and well-being.
  • Health, Nutrition and WASH: Improve access to health information, nutrition education, hygiene promotion, menstrual hygiene management, and safe water and sanitation practices.
  • Sustainable Livelihoods and Economic Empowerment: Enhance employability, vocational skills, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and household income through livelihood promotion and linkages with government schemes.
  • Environment, Climate and Disaster Resilience: Promote environmental conservation, waste management, climate awareness, disaster preparedness, and community resilience through green initiatives and behaviour change.
  • Community Participation and Institutional Strengthening: Strengthen community groups, local leadership, and partnerships with government institutions to improve service delivery and ensure sustainable community ownership. 

Key Activities

Conduct community awareness campaigns on child protection, health, nutrition, hygiene, menstrual hygiene management, climate change, and disaster preparedness; strengthen community-based organizations and local institutions; organize vocational skills development and entrepreneurship training; facilitate livelihood promotion and linkages with government welfare schemes; implement tree plantation, waste management, and environmental conservation activities; build the capacity of community volunteers and frontline workers; and support community action planning to promote sustainable and inclusive village development

Target Beneficiaries

The project directly benefits children, adolescents, women, youth, and vulnerable households, particularly those from underserved and marginalized communities. Indirect beneficiaries include community-based organizations, frontline workers, local institutions, and the wider community through strengthened services, improved community participation, and sustainable development initiatives.

The Good Village Project is implemented by Good Neighbors Bharat in partnership with Deepalaya, one of India's leading development organizations dedicated to empowering underserved communities through education, healthcare, and livelihoods since 1979. The project is implemented in collaboration with community-based organizations, local government departments, health facilities, educational institutions, frontline workers, and CSR partners to strengthen integrated community development and sustainable local systems.
