Prakriti Connect: Climate and Environmental Resilience Project

Prakriti Connect is an integrated environmental and climate resilience initiative that empowers children, youth, schools, and communities to protect natural resources, adopt sustainable practices, and build resilience to climate change. The project promotes ecosystem restoration, environmental conservation, climate awareness, and community-led adaptation while strengthening local capacity to address climate-related risks such as heatwaves, floods, and droughts. Through education, community participation, digital innovations, and partnerships with local governments, Prakriti Connect fosters environmentally responsible communities that are better prepared to respond to climate challenges and contribute to a greener, more sustainable future.

Project Objectives

  • Promote environmental conservation and ecosystem restoration through communityled action.
  • Strengthen climate resilience by increasing awareness and adoption of climate-smart practices.
  • Improve community preparedness for climate-related hazards through disaster risk reduction and early action.
  • Empower children, youth, schools, and communities to become environmental stewards and climate champions.
  • Strengthen partnerships and local governance for sustainable environmental management and climate adaptation.

Key Components

  • Environmental Conservation and Ecosystem Restoration: Promote afforestation, biodiversity conservation, waste management, restoration of water bodies, and sustainable natural resource management.
  • Climate Change Awareness and Adaptation: Build awareness on climate change, heatwaves, floods, droughts, and encourage climate-smart behaviours and resourceefficient practices.
  • Community-Based Disaster Risk Reduction: Strengthen community preparedness through disaster awareness, early warning systems, mock drills, and local response planning.
  • Green Schools and Community Engagement: Establish eco-clubs, support environmental education, mobilize youth volunteers, and promote community-led environmental campaigns.
  • Digital Innovation for Climate Action: Utilize digital platforms, GIS mapping, mobile applications, and climate information systems to support environmental monitoring, climate awareness, and local planning.

Key Activities

Organize tree plantation drives, biodiversity conservation campaigns, restoration of ponds and community green spaces, school environmental education programmes, eco-club activities, waste segregation and plastic reduction campaigns, community clean-up drives, heatwave awareness programmes, climate risk education, disaster preparedness training, mock drills, climate vulnerability assessments, community adaptation planning, and digital awareness campaigns using mobile platforms and GIS-based monitoring tools.

Target Beneficiaries

The project benefits children, adolescents, youth, schools, teachers, parents, community members, local institutions, self-help groups, and vulnerable households, particularly those living in climate-sensitive and environmentally degraded areas. Special emphasis is placed on empowering young people as climate leaders and strengthening the resilience of communities most vulnerable to environmental and climate risks.

Project Location

Implemented in climate-vulnerable rural and urban communities across Good Neighbors Bharat operational areas, in partnership with schools, local governments, and community institutions.

Project Duration

Three-year project (or as per donor/CSR requirements).

Partners/Supporters

Implemented by Good Neighbors Bharat in collaboration with schools, Panchayati Raj Institutions, Urban Local Bodies, government departments, community-based organizations, 21 environmental experts, research institutions, CSR partners, and local communities to promote sustainable environmental management and climate resilience

Expected Outcomes

Prakriti Connect will enhance environmental awareness, restore local ecosystems, improve waste management practices, and increase community participation in environmental conservation. Children, youth, and community members will adopt climate-smart behaviours, strengthen preparedness for climate-related disasters, and contribute to sustainable natural resource management. Through strengthened local institutions, digital monitoring, and community ownership, the project will establish a scalable model for environmental stewardship and climate resilience, enabling communities to protect their environment while adapting to the growing impacts of climate change.
